The name's Chelsea. I'm 32. She/Her "You can paint the house a rainbow of colors. Rip out the floorboards. Replace the shutters but that's my plastic in the dirt."
I make beautiful yarns for sale. If you could reblog this, I would really appreciate it. I recently lost my job in the shitstorm that is the tech world and I am trying to stay afloat from the sales of my yarns while I go through interview after interview after interview hoping somewhere will hire me.
If you have the money to spare in this hellscape economy and need some yarn, please consider my shop. Your patronage would be greatly appreciated.
So reading about historical Estonian knitting I thought the biggest surprises and such would be general traditions and some techniques.
And some of it is cool stuff like using these different techniques to keep the bottom hem of a sweater from curling instead of ribbing. Cool! Love it!
One thing I have never really given thought to was the relatively recent development of circular knitting needles. Like, I know they are a recent thing, and I know there was stranded colorwork knit in the round before them, but I never gave any thought to what that involved until reading this
Knitting a full sweater of complicated stitch patterns and detailed colorwork on 12-15 double pointed needles sounds like hell.
Look at that stitch work pattern in that top photo again. Now look at these steps to make it:
Now do that across 12-15 DPNs and try not to twist it or lose your shit.
Mad respect to knitters of yore. And if you still do full sweaters only using an army of DPNs, I both respect and fear you.
idk what traumatized or mentally ill person needs to hear this but dreams (especially the really disturbing ones you dont want to talk about to anybody) arent some deep peek into your psyche or a sign of your True Desires or whatever theyre quite literally your brain making fruit salad with whatever it can find on the shelf. just putting all that shit in a blender and hitting obliterate. its fine, youre fine, youre not a weirdo for it
Actually forget what I said. This dream is more important than anything
Every cover/rewrite/parody of We didnt start the fire just sees the song as a reason to list of a bunch of verbs that rhyme. They always miss the feeling that you’re being dragged through an unstoppable march of events in chronological order fast enough to be a little overwhelming.
Fallout boy’s one having “LeBron James” Followed Immediately by “Shinzo abe blown away” got a gut laugh out of me the first time and I will at the very least give them that and ending it on 9/11 for funny value. But overall it is a shame the structure of the song is just “say keywords that rhyme before the chorus melody comes back”
